OK, so I'm not really going to get out the drill and soldering iron and pop a whole new button in the joystick.... At least not yet... ;-) What I have done is made a modification that allows you to use your ring finger to fire the lower side button, and you only need a couple hours of surgery and a few weeks of recovery....

So I lied there too... I'll get to the point. Check this out.

This is one half of a clothes pin that has been cut in half and whittled down some, then glued on the button with shoe goo to make a lever that lets me use the lower button with my ring finger. This makes a previously useless button available, in essence adding a new button to your joystick. What this means is that you can use 3 buttons + your hat *simultaneously*... a distinct advantage over someone limited to 2 in games like Descent and Mechwarrior.
